Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

How does Zaiyu work?
Zaiyu has two main parts: discovering members and joining events. In Discover, you can browse other members and choose Pass, Like, or Super Like. When both sides like each other, a match is created and you can chat. In Events, you can view events by distance, sign up, or host your own events after completing identity verification.
Why do I need to complete all registration details?
Your account only enters normal use after you complete basic info, personal details, partner preferences, and photos. Discover uses your age, gender, location, interests, and other data for filtering and ranking. You need at least one valid personal photo before other members can see you in Discover.
If I log in with a different phone number, will my original profile carry over?
No. Each phone number is a separate account. After SMS verification with another number, only that number’s own account data is loaded. A brand-new number starts with a blank profile.
How do I edit my profile and photos?
Go to Me and open the profile edit page to change editable details and photos. Gender is locked after registration and cannot be changed. Other details can be updated in the edit screen if they change.
What do the VIP, verified, and divorce-verified icons on a profile mean?
The VIP icon means the member currently has active VIP. The identity-verified icon means their ID has passed verification. The divorce-verified icon means their divorce certificate has been approved. The three statuses are independent and only appear when the corresponding qualification is met.

Discovery & Matching

How are members ordered in Discover?
The system prioritizes distance tiers: within 30 km, within 50 km, within 100 km, then farther or members without available location. Within the same distance tier, order is random.
Why can’t I see some members?
Candidates are affected by several factors, including whether the account finished registration, age filters, gender matching rules, same-city filters, distance, the other person’s privacy settings, mutual blocks, and whether you already acted on that member. Members without a valid personal photo also do not enter the normal Discover pool.
What do Pass, Like, and Super Like do?
Swipe left or tap × is Pass; swipe right or tap ♥ is Like; tap ★ is Super Like. Like and Super Like are positive actions. A match is only created when the other person also Likes or Super Likes you. Super Likes appear with a more prominent ★ status in related like records.
How do matches get created?
A match is created when you Like or Super Like someone and they also Like or Super Like you. The second person to make a positive choice immediately sees the “It’s a Match” screen; the other person also receives a match notification.
Can I message someone before matching?
Not in the normal Discover flow. Private messages are only available after both sides successfully match. Event group chats belong to the Events feature and are not restricted by private matching.
How can I see who liked me?
“Likes You” is a VIP-only feature. VIP members can go to Me → Likes You to see members who Liked or Super Liked you, ordered from newest to oldest by the time they liked you.
Where can I see people I have liked?
Go to Me → My Likes to see members you currently still have a Like on. You can also open their profile to unlike them; if you are already matched, it will show Unmatch instead.
Why can’t I keep swiping today?
Free members have a daily Discover limit. Once the daily quota is used, it resets on the next usage day. VIP members have unlimited Discover and are not limited by daily swipes. The exact free allowance is set by current system configuration.
Which Discover filters are VIP-only?
Age and basic location filters are available to everyone. Height, income, housing, and car filters are VIP advanced filters. Non-VIP users who tap these will first see a VIP-only prompt.

Messages & Interaction

What can I send in private chat?
After matching, you can send text, images, and voice messages, and reply to specific messages. The chat page also supports pin, mute notifications, report, block, and unmatch.
What happens after I unmatch?
After unmatching, neither side can send new messages, but previous chat history remains. Like status afterward follows the actual actions taken; old chat history is not deleted automatically.
Is clearing chat history the same as unmatching?
No. Clearing chat history only tidies what you see. Unmatching ends the current ability to chat between both sides. Use Unmatch when you want to end the match.
What happens when I block someone?
After blocking, neither side can view each other’s profiles or send messages, and you will not appear to each other in normal Discover. You can later unblock in Me → Privacy Center → Blocked List.
How do I report a member?
In a member’s profile or chat page, open More and choose Report User, then select fraud or money solicitation, harassment or threats, inappropriate content, fake identity, or other. Submitted reports enter a review process.
Can I Like someone from an event attendee profile?
This is a VIP benefit. Eligible VIP members can Like or Super Like from event attendee profiles. If the other person also likes you, a private match is created the same way.

Events & Tokens

What is a registration token (the token used by participants)?
A registration token is the event-entry credit used when joining events. Each successful new event registration immediately deducts 1 registration token. If the event requires payment, the token is deducted when the registration enters pending payment, not after payment is completed. Free members have a cap of 5; VIP members have a cap of 15.
What is a host token?
Host tokens are used to create events. Each successful new event deducts 1 host token. You must complete identity verification and currently hold at least 1 host token before hosting. Free members have a cap of 5; VIP members have a cap of 15.
Where can I see my tokens?
Go to Me. Registration and host token counts are shown on either side of your avatar. For VIP members, the token cards use a black background, yellow text, and yellow border.
When are registration tokens returned?
The 1 registration token used is returned after normal attendance and successful scan of your attendance code by the host. It is also returned if you leave at least 24 hours before the event starts. If the host cancels the event, participants’ registration tokens are returned as well. Returns will not exceed your current token cap.
When is a registration token forfeited?
If you leave less than 24 hours before the event starts, the registration token used for that signup is forfeited and not returned. After the event has started, you also cannot cancel registration through the normal leave flow.
Is there a bonus for consecutive attendance?
Yes. The system tracks recent attendance results. Every 3 consecutive successful attendances awards 1 extra registration token. The balance after the bonus is still limited by your current token cap.
When are host tokens returned?
1 host token is deducted when the event is created. After check-in opens, the first successful scan of a valid attendee’s attendance code returns the host token used for that event once and records host experience for the event.
What are host levels for?
After identity verification and holding a host token, Lv1 can host free events. Reaching Lv2 with 100 host experience allows setting a registration fee (currently up to 20 yuan). Reaching Lv3 with 500 experience unlocks prepaid deposit types. The first successful attendee check-in for an event grants 100 host experience.
How do I create an event?
Go to Events and tap Host Event. The system first checks identity verification, host tokens, and host level, then you fill in name, description, category, time, venue, fees, capacity, etc. Venue must be selected from Tencent Map search results. Creating successfully deducts 1 host token.
What time restrictions apply to new events?
When creating a new event, start time must be at least 1 hour from now, and end time must be after start time. If you edit later, the new start time must still be at least 12 hours from now.
How do I join an event?
In Events, select an event and open details. After confirming time, place, fee, and spots, tap Sign Up Now. The system checks whether the event is still open, has capacity, and whether you still have registration tokens. Successful registration deducts 1 registration token. Paid events then proceed to payment.
Why can’t I sign up for an event?
Common reasons include the event already started or ended, the event was cancelled, capacity is full, you have no registration tokens left, or you are the host. Paid events may also require completed payment before you become a confirmed attendee.
When is a paid event registration considered successful?
Submitting registration first deducts 1 registration token. If the event fee is greater than 0, the registration enters pending payment; it becomes confirmed only after valid payment. Free events go directly to confirmed registration.
What is VIP event pricing?
Hosts can set a VIP discount for a specific event. When an active VIP member signs up, the system automatically calculates the VIP price based on that event’s setting. Events without a VIP discount use the same price for everyone.
What is the difference between favoriting an event and following a host?
Favoriting an event saves that specific event for later viewing via the favorites filter. Following a host tracks future events by that member and lets you view them under Followed Hosts. The two do not affect each other.
What is the event group chat for?
After successfully joining an event, you can enter the event group chat from related entries to talk with the host and other attendees. The event name or event card at the top of the group chat opens the formal event details directly, without going back to the event list.
Why can’t I see the attendee list for some events?
Hosts can choose whether to make the attendee list public when creating the event. If the host turns list display off, other members will not see the full attendee list.

Attendance & Event Rules

What is an attendance code?
An attendance code is the personal check-in QR code used on-site by successfully registered attendees. It is bound to the event, your registration record, and membership identity so the host can confirm you actually attended and trigger attendance records and related token rewards.
When can the attendance code be opened?
The attendance code opens 1 hour before the event starts and remains valid until 1 hour after the event ends. Only attendees with confirmed or already-attended registration status can view it.
How do I scan attendance codes?
Only the event host can scan. After check-in opens 1 hour before the event, the host chooses Scan Attendance Code on the event details page and uses the camera to scan the QR code on the attendee’s phone. The system verifies that the code belongs to that event and a valid registration.
What happens after an attendance code is scanned?
A successful scan marks the attendee as attended and returns the registration token used for that signup. Reaching 3 consecutive attendances also awards 1 extra registration token. The first successful attendee check-in for an event returns the host token and adds 100 host experience.
What happens if I leave at least 24 hours before the event starts?
If there are at least 24 hours remaining before the event starts, leaving returns the 1 registration token used. For fees already paid successfully, current rules refund 90% of the amount paid.
What happens if I leave less than 24 hours before the event starts?
If less than 24 hours remain before the event starts, leaving does not return the registration token; it is forfeited. For fees already paid successfully, current rules refund 75% of the amount paid.
Can I still leave after the event has started?
No. Normal leave registration is not allowed after the event starts. The system rejects leave requests after start time, and registrations that have already completed attendance also cannot be cancelled.
What happens when a host cancels an event?
The event is cancelled and cannot be restored. Valid participant registrations are cancelled together, and unused registration tokens that have not yet been processed are returned. Participants who already paid receive a full refund. If the host cancels at least 24 hours before start, the host token is returned; if cancelled with less than 24 hours remaining, the corresponding host token is forfeited.
When can event details no longer be edited?
A lock period starts 12 hours before the event. Hosts can no longer edit event details to avoid disrupting already registered attendees. When editing, the new start time must also be at least 12 hours from now.
What can I do if the host does not show up?
After the event ends, eligible registered attendees can submit a “Host No-Show” complaint. The system records the complaint and may apply an extra host-token penalty based on the event’s token status. Penalties for the same event are prevented from being applied more than once.

VIP

What benefits does VIP include?
Current VIP benefits include: see who liked you, precise filters, unlimited Discover, advanced privacy, higher token caps of 15 registration + 15 host tokens, liking other attendees in events, and VIP-only discounts on selected events.
What happens when a non-VIP taps a VIP feature?
The system does not take you straight to payment. It first shows a “This feature is VIP-only” prompt. You can choose Become VIP to open the upgrade page, or Maybe Later to continue using free features.
Is the entire Privacy Center VIP-only?
No. All members can enter Privacy Center and use ordinary privacy features such as the block list and personalized recommendations. Only advanced options like profile visibility, hide online status, and hide distance are VIP.
How do I pay for VIP?
On iPhone, purchases go through the Apple App Store. On non-Apple devices, the VIP page provides Alipay or WeChat Pay. VIP only activates after the server confirms a valid transaction; it is not granted just because the front end shows success.
Why do some features still show locked after upgrading VIP?
Normally VIP status refreshes immediately after a successful upgrade or restore purchase. Status is also re-checked when entering Me and using VIP features such as Likes You. If it still has not updated, go back one page and enter again. If the problem continues, submit feedback on this page with screenshots.
What happens to advanced privacy when VIP expires?
After VIP expires, the account returns to free-member permissions. The system restores advanced profile visibility to normal public state and re-enables online status and distance display. Registration and host token caps also return to free-member limits.

Account & Verification

How do I complete identity verification?
Go to Me → Account & Security → Identity Verification and follow the on-screen instructions to photograph the portrait side of your ID and submit it. After verification passes, your profile shows the verified icon and unlocks the host-event eligibility check.
Why is identity verification required to host events?
Events involve offline meetings, venues, attendees, and possible fees, so the system requires hosts to complete identity verification first. Members who are not verified can still use Discover and join events normally, but cannot create new events.
How do I complete divorce verification?
First complete identity verification, then go to Account & Security → Divorce Verification and follow the instructions to submit your divorce certificate. After approval, an independent divorce-verified icon appears on your profile.
Why can’t I change gender after registration?
Gender affects the basic matching rules for Discover candidates, so it is locked after registration. Your current gender is still shown when editing your profile, but it cannot be changed directly.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Account & Security and choose Delete Account. Because deletion permanently removes personal data, photos, matches, and event-related data, and may involve event or payment records, the current flow asks you to complete the deletion request through customer service.

Privacy & Safety

What profile visibility modes are available?
Advanced profile visibility controls who can see your profile, including visible to everyone, hide profile, show only within the scope related to people you like, and matched-only modes. These visibility options are VIP advanced privacy features.
Can I hide online status or distance?
Yes, but “Hide online status” and “Hide distance” are VIP advanced privacy. All members can still enter Privacy Center to manage ordinary privacy settings and the block list.
What is location data used for?
Location is mainly used for distance ranking of members in Discover and events—for example prioritizing candidates within 30 km, 50 km, or 100 km, and ranking nearer events first. Whether others see your specific distance also depends on your own distance-display privacy setting.
Can I turn off personalized recommendations?
Yes. Personalized recommendations are a regular privacy setting and do not require VIP. You can turn them off or on again in Privacy Center.

Notifications & Troubleshooting

Which notifications can I control?
In Message Notification Settings you can separately control new messages, event reminders, new matches, and system announcements. System announcements are on by default for new members; you can adjust them later.
Are participants notified when event details change?
After a host edits an event, the system sends update notifications to relevant registered participants who have event reminders enabled. If event reminders are off, you may not receive these pushes, so it is still recommended to check the latest details before attending.
How do I report a bug or submit a suggestion?
Return to the Help & Feedback home page, enter your issue or suggestion under Feedback, optionally attach a screenshot, then tap Submit Feedback. To help troubleshooting, please clearly describe the page, the action you just took, the expected result, and the actual result.
A member uploaded photos—why do some places still show the logo?
Normally the system uses the member’s top-ranked valid photo as the avatar. If the logo still appears, try refreshing the page first. If it keeps happening in multiple places, submit feedback with a screenshot of the page where that member appears so photo data or cache can be checked.
What if I don’t receive the SMS verification code?
First confirm the country/region code and phone number are correct, and check for SMS blocking or signal issues on the phone. Avoid requesting many codes in a short time. If you still cannot receive it, try again later and in Feedback provide the last four digits of the phone number, the time it happened, and any error message.
